Week 2 Day 4

There is not as much to post today, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work! The code for the Dissolved Oxygen sensor works fine. I hit a wall creating the combined code but Yixin Gu is helping me out with that so that is great news. Joe has almost completed our power point presentation for next week so that it will be ready to go. With some very minor edits to update it we should be ready to roll on that with no issues. We also found out some more detail on the report we are supposed to produce by the end of this program. It can be as basic or as complex as we feel is appropriate but if we choose to push ourselves and produce a full research paper then there is a bonus at the end! If we do a thorough job then they will submit our paper to a review committee or professors at UNT and help us polish it so that it can be submitted to journals for publication. That is really cool. Now, just because we write a research paper doesn't mean we will get published. Even having that be a possibility, though, is extremely motivating. Joe put together a format for the paper and has come up with a way to divide the labor of writing it into palatable chunks. I did some research on the formats required by several journals we are targeting for possible publication. Lori pulled more research for the lesson plans and has begun the literature review section. We are excited about this aspect of the program and are looking forward to the challenge. Here is the format we are planning on using and an idea of who will focus on what.

The seminar this afternoon did not give us much practical information for our current task but did provide some interesting background on some of the projects currently going on with wireless networks and environmental monitoring. Check out the TEO website.
